Meet the Board

We are an international, progressive nonprofit organization that raises money to fund successful programs that are providing shelter, protection and education for disadvantaged children living in abject poverty.

Kari Hull (Founder / Director)

2004-2008 Kari served as the Program Coordinator for World Children’s Relief, a global NGO that worked to support community schools in developing countries. In 2008, with support from family and friends, Kari founded Children's Peace Project (CPP). She has volunteered her time to help the organization stay focused on the vision that education is a human right, working primarily in Haiti. She lives in Prescott Arizona and is the mother of two daughters and works side by side with her husband in their ceramic business. Kari enjoys reading books, hiking, and practicing yoga.

Armelle Déjoie (Board Member)

A former student of EPE, Armelle served as a liaison between the school and CPP after the death of the school’s founder, Angelina Lainé, in 2017. She formally joined CPP board in 2020 as board member. She recently graduated from Georgetown University with a degree in Biology of Global Health. In her spare time, Armelle enjoys the outdoors and cooking.

Anna Hull (Board Member)

Anna has been a youth volunteer and fundraising coordinator with CPP since its founding in 2008. She has recently stepped into the role of board member in 2020 and is hoping to help grow CPP’s vision and capacity to provide quality education to students. Anna graduated from Cornish College of the Arts in 2017 and currently resides in Brooklyn, NY where she is a freelance dance artist.

Fiona Hull (Board Member)

Since 2008, Fiona has been a youth volunteer with CPP and has recently rejoined the organization as a board member seeing an opportunity to grow CPP’s programs and reach. Fiona is a recent graduate of Connecticut College and holds degrees in History and Global Islamic Studies. She has conducted research on mass refugee movements, ethical humanitarianism and protracted conflict. When she has free time, Fiona loves to ride her bike and embroider.

Martel DenHartog (Board Member)

Martel started as a youth volunteer for CPP in 2011, and is excited to reconnect with the organization and help strengthen CPP’s support of EPE as a board member. Martel is a 2019 graduate of Luther College and now works in Madison, Wisconsin as a research specialist in a microbiology lab. In her free time, Martel enjoys canoeing and running.
