Our Statement on President Jovenel’s Assassination

Our team is heartbroken about the recent tragedy in Haiti that occurred early morning on Wednesday, July 7th. We stand in solidarity with President Jovenel’s family and the people of Haiti, who continue to unjustly endure so much.

In the midst of the sadness and shock, we continue to support Haiti and our community school. Now, more than ever, the youth of Haiti need the stability and knowledge provided by education to give them tools for success and true self-determination. Lack of access to quality education has plagued Haiti for more than a century and is linked to many tragedies the nation has experienced. As enshrined by Article 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, education is a fundamental human right. It is our goal at CPP to facilitate, foster and advocate for the protection of that right. CPP is firm in our 11-year-old commitment to our partner school and will continue to promote education in Haiti to help change the narratives consistently imposed upon the nation. We ask that you, too, do not dismiss or give up on Haiti, her people, and their cries for peace.
