Day 7: Farewell Performance from LPES students

Today was our last day working in Haiti. We arrived at the school this morning to watch a performance that the students had prepared for us. We waited for the drummers to arrive, then headed upstairs to find the 3rd floor cleared for a performance space and 8 chairs for us to watch their show. Between the Haiti national anthem, a girl reciting a poem about cats (while holding an actual kitten), native songs being sung, amazing dances, elaborate costumes, and speeches of thanks and hope, it was a memorable experience for all of the CPP volunteers. After the performance, the LPES teachers and students expressed their gratefulness and thanks by presenting us with gifts.

We then had to say our goodbyes to our beloved students and teachers as we left the school for the last time. We ate lunch at a local restaurant called A and J's, then hit the market place to find some beautiful, authentic Haitian art.

After our exhausting run at the art market, we returned back to the apartment to begin packing for our 8am bus ride back to the Dominican Republic tomorrow.
