Day 6: Zanmitay, Soccer, and Dance...oh my!
Whew! Today was our most productive day yet! When we got to the school, Anna, Fiona, Tim, David, some of the teachers, and a group of LPES students walked to a field to start soccer and dance activities. Anna lead a circle of dancers, while Fiona was over with the boys playing some intense soccer. It was so much fun to be outside with them! They are so funny and love to make us laugh.
While we were at the field, Kari and Denette were back at the school working on beautiful murals with the younger students. It turned out great!
Later, Kari and Anna traveled to the Sacred Heart Centre to work with Nancy Jean and the Zanmitay girls on new jewelry designs. We were so productive and made about 30 bracelets and 15 necklaces!
While we were working on the jewelry, David and Tim took some of the teachers up to Cormier beach to do some more teacher training as well as bird and flower exploration. And back at LPES Fiona and Denette were finishing up the murals and wall painting for the new CPP library.
All in all it was one of our most productive days yet! We are very happy with all of the work we have accomplished on this trip. Tomorrow will be our last day in Haiti and we are excited to see what the day will bring!
Stay tuned to see what travel adventures we encounter as we head home through the DR!...
