2023 Summer Fundraiser Recap!

Hello from Children’s Peace Project!

We have had an exciting year of fundraising for our partner school, École la Pépinière Emmanuel (EPE) so far in 2023. Members of our board hosted their own events bringing together local friends and communities for a good cause. We have already raised $2,300 for EPE - only $200 short of our summer 2023 goal! Read on to hear about our fundraisers from our board members.

Students at EPE start school for the next academic year on September 12th. Many are in need of funds for school supplies, uniforms, and books. Help us in the final stretch and donate here!

Summer Fundraising Events

A New York Stoop Sale

My spring cleaning was delayed to let’s say…late summer and by that time I had collected a lot of old clothes from friends and neighbors as well. So I decided to host a yard sale (known in New York as a stoop sale). I sold clothes, shoes, and handmade jewelry on a very hot August weekend here in Brooklyn. My neighbors were happy to support Children’s Peace Project and find new pre-loved clothes in the process. I raised $300 at my summer stoop sale! Thanks to my friends who donated clothes and brought me coffee and snacks! :) -Anna Hull

Birthday Picnics and Jeopardy

To celebrate my birthday in May, I hosted a Spring Picnic, unfortunately, the picnic itself was rained out so we quickly pivoted to hosting the event inside my apartment in Brooklyn, New York. So many of my wonderful friends came and supported me and CPP! We ate delicious food, played Fiona-themed Jeopardy, and most importantly raised $200 for CPP. Thank you to all my friends and loved ones who came out and I am looking forward to next year! -Fiona Hull

Haiti in a Basket

We put together a fun Haiti items gift basket and did a virtual raffle fundraiser to benefit Children’s Peace Project. It was a fun campaign promoting it to friends and family. Collectively, we raised $1,005! It exceeded our expectations! My sister Shelly won the gift basket and my mom helped me pull the ticket. I know that sounds crazy but it is true. All legit, I promise. Here is the VIDEO of us doing the raffle pull so you can see no funny business transpired :) Thanks to everyone who bought a ticket and continues to help support our education programs at LPES! -Kari Hull

A Sporty Tournament

My friends from different Madison circles got together to play in a doubles round-robin tennis tournament that raised $340 for CPP. Some players were learning the rules on the fly, and everyone had a great time on the courts. We had snacks, drinks, and crowned a winner who earned a gift card for some Haitian coffee from Singing Rooster (based out of Wisconsin!). The event reminded me of when my dad would put on “Dave’s fun tennis camp” for my siblings and friends, including Fiona and Anna. Thanks to everyone who donated and participated! -Martel DenHartog
